John W. Balliett, Chairman and C.E.O.
John has been involved in the hospitality industry as an owner, manager and entrepreneur since 1981 when he formed Charter One.
John graduated from Grove City College with a Bachelor of Science in Physics in 1969 and went to work for Eastman Kodak while continuing his education at the University of Rochester. Leaving Kodak, he joined Coherent Radiation as Manager of the Applied Optics Department before becoming Director of Marketing for their TROPEL subsidiary based in Fairport, New York. In 1973, he formed Quality Measurement System, Inc., which was sold to a fortune 500 company in 1978 when he relocated to Sarasota, Florida. There he became involved in several business and real estate investments before founding Charter One in 1981.
Under his leadership, Charter One has grown to a hotel management company with gross revenues of $45,000,000, employing over 800 people in Florida and New York. Hotel brands include Madison, Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn, Ramada, Best Western & Holiday Inn Express.
Born in Rochester, New York in 1947, John is married and has one daughter attending Wake Forest University. He holds several patents, has written numerous articles and is listed in "Marquis Who's Who in America". John is a licensed mortgage broker and has acted as a court appointed receiver on several hotel projects. He is active at his church, sits as a citizen member of the Florida Bar Grievance Committee, and is an avid amateur photographer.
Scott Busby, President & COO
Scott is responsible for the leadership and continued development of Charter One and works with the CEO John Balliett on developing new strategic initiatives. As President and COO at Charter One, Scott will be responsible for the leadership and continued development of the operations, technology, financial, sales, marketing and administrative functions.
Prior to joining Charter One, Busby was Executive Vice President & CAO at Lifestyle Family Fitness, one of the top 20 fastest growing fitness companies in the world located in St. Petersburg, Florida. He also served as Chief Operating Officer for Advantec HR in Tampa, Florida.
Bruce Campbell, Vice President of Finance
Bruce graduated from Arizona State University with a B.S. degree in Finance. Bruce has over twenty-five years of experience in hotel finance and acquisitions for Carefree Resorts/Grand Bay Hotels and Resorts, Acacia Hotels & Resorts, and Suncadia-Destination Roslyn Resort, Inc. In addition he has served as an independant consultant for several hotels including Westroc Hotels & Resorts, Greyhawk and Rancho Encantado. He has served as VP of aquisitions, CFO and Vice President Controller of Hospitality Operations and brings a wealth of financial and hotel operations knowledge to Charter One Hotels & Resorts, Inc.
Steve Cook, Vice President of Operations
Steve is responsible for the overall operation of a portfolio of hotels, including service levels, revenues, and ultimately the profitability of each hotel. Steve was with Richfield Hospitality for over 19 years, and has over 29 total years of hospitality experience. He has held General Manager positions in diverse markets, from Silicon Valley, California to Orlando, Florida; commercial hotels to resorts. He has operated full service Starwood brands including Sheraton and Four Points by Sheraton, Holiday Inn, Radisson, Clarion, La Quinta, Best Western, Hilton and independent hotels. A Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA), Steve is involved in many organizations, including HSMAI, Rotary, and numerous community organizations. Steve is bilingual, having grown up in South America; he attended Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California.

Cusic graduated from De Sales University. Cusic has over twenty years of operations and sales and marketing experience in the hospitality industry working for Ampak Group, Red Roof Inns, American International Hotels and Americana Hotels. He assists the hotels in all of their sales, e-commerce and marketing efforts.
Charter One Hotels & Resorts considers Sales & Marketing to be critical to a property's success. Charter One will oversee market analysis , positioning, revenue, yield and demographic analysis as well as internet marketing initiatives. Cusic accomplishes this by working directly with each property to develop a strategy that will maximize revenue.

Pamela Chaisson, Human Resources
Charter One Hotels & Resorts, Inc. provides Employee Benefits administration through Advantec. Advantec integrates, develops and supports human resource business process outsourcing (HR BPO) models to meet a variety of client needs. These solutions are Advantec’s co-employment outsourcing (PEO), administrative services outsourcing (ASO) and full-service human resources outsourcing (HRO).
Pam has over twenty years of experience with a comphrehensive and strategic understanding of Human Resource Management, Business and Technical Issues, and Organizational Change. She oversees compliance of all internal standards, processes, policies and procedures. In addition to being an executive with Advantec; Pam has held Human Resource Management positions with Gevity and Gorham Manufacturing. She is a graduate Providence College and is a Certified Human Resource manager (CHRM).
